For Installers: Apply to Join SolutionEnergy

In short: if you are a licensed, insured company that installs solar, batteries, standby generators, EV chargers, small wind, micro-hydro or off-grid systems, you can apply below. Applying is free and commits you to nothing. We check your license, and we only pass on a customer’s request when that customer chooses you.

SolutionEnergy is a research site. Homeowners and businesses come here to learn about backup power, batteries, solar and EV charging, and some ask us for help with a real project. We reply to every request ourselves. When people want to talk to an installer, we want to be able to suggest a good local company, and that is where you come in.

Who we are looking for

  • Licensed in your trade. An active state or local license for the work you do (electrical, general or specialty contractor, depending on your state and the job), in good standing on the issuing board’s public lookup.
  • Insured. General liability insurance, plus workers’ compensation where your state requires it.
  • Installing what our readers ask about: solar, home and commercial batteries, standby generators, EV chargers, small wind turbines, micro-hydro or complete off-grid systems.
  • Serving homes, businesses or public buyers. Tell us which, and the states and areas you cover.

Certifications help but are not required. If you list one, such as NABCEP or a manufacturer’s installer or dealer program, we confirm it in that organization’s own directory.

How it will work

  1. You apply. The form below asks for your company, license numbers and issuing states, the areas you serve, what you install and whether you carry liability insurance.
  2. We check. We look up every license on the state or local board’s site and note the date we checked. We will ask for a certificate of insurance before we suggest you to anyone. We reply by email, usually within 5 business days.
  3. A customer asks us for help. We reply to them ourselves first, and often the answer is a guide, a calculator or an honest “this does not fit your home.”
  4. The customer chooses. Only if they tick the optional box asking us to suggest installers do we tell them about licensed companies serving their area. Nothing is shared until they pick one.
  5. You receive one request, from one customer who picked you. Only the installer the customer chooses gets their details, so you can contact them by email or phone about a quote.
  6. You quote and contract directly. The customer signs with you. We do not quote prices for a job, negotiate on your behalf or take part in your contract.

This is the same process we explain to customers on our how it works page, and next to every request form we tell them: “Tell us about your project and we will connect you with a licensed, independent installer who serves your area. It is free, there is no obligation, and only the installer you choose gets your details.”

Requests you receive will already carry useful detail. Customers tell us their property type, state and ZIP code, timing and rough budget, plus questions specific to the project: the fuel available for a generator, the electrical panel size and parking spot for an EV charger, whether a home already has solar before adding a battery, or the critical loads a business needs to keep running.

What we do not do

  • We never sell a request to a list of companies; you will not be bidding against five others for the same name.
  • We do not make automated calls or send text messages to customers.
  • We do not present any installer as our staff or claim local offices. Your company is an independent business, named as such.
  • We do not publish reviews we have not collected honestly, and we never edit or buy them.

What we ask of you

Contact customers promptly and only about the project they asked about. Give a written quote with your license number on it, pull the permits the job needs and handle utility interconnection where it applies. Explain the customer’s cancellation rights under your state’s rules. Honor any request to stop contacting them, and never share or resell their details.

Pricing

Applying is free. Pricing for installers will be shared when we start matching in your area. You will see it in writing before any request reaches you, and you can decide then whether to take part.

Installer questions

Are these shared leads?

No. A customer’s details go only to the one installer that customer chooses, after they have asked us to suggest installers. We never send the same request to a list of companies. If the customer later wants a second quote, they choose that second company too, and that choice is theirs, not ours.

How do you check my license?

We look up each license number you give us on the issuing state or local board’s public lookup, confirm the name, trade and status, and record the date we checked. In states where electrical licensing is local, we check with the city or county. Our state pages link to each state’s lookup where we have verified it.

How much will it cost me?

Applying costs nothing and does not commit you. Pricing for installers will be shared when we start matching in your area, in writing, before any customer request reaches you. You can decide then whether you want to take part, and you can withdraw your application at any time by replying to our email.

Which areas are you starting in?

We welcome applications from every state. We will start suggesting installers where customers are asking for help and where we have checked enough local companies to give people a real choice. Tell us every state and area you serve, and we will let you know when requests near you can start.

Will you contact me after I apply?

Yes, only about your application, by email or phone, as the form’s consent box says. We usually reply within 5 business days, sometimes with a question about a license or your service area. We use your details only to review your application; see our privacy policy. Questions first? Use our contact page.
