Utility rules and programs for Boca Raton
FPL serves homes in Boca Raton.
| Utility | Type | Generator rules |
|---|---|---|
| Florida Power & Light Co | investor-owned | A transfer switch (NEC 702.5) keeps backup power from feeding the grid; ask the utility for its rules. Florida permits a standby generator and expects wind-rated, flood-elevated installation. |
Program details are from each utility’s own pages (read October 2026). See the Florida incentives table for statewide credits and a status for every program.
What to plan for in Boca Raton
- Hurricanes (very high): Hurricanes can mean a week without power. A standby generator on natural gas or propane, or a battery with solar, beats a stack of gas cans; check flood height before you site equipment.
- Lightning (very high): Lightning causes short outages and damages electronics. Surge protection and a battery that switches over automatically protect the things you care about.
- River and heavy-rain flooding (relatively high): Heavy rain can flood basements and take out power. Put sump pumps on backup power and keep equipment above the flood line.
